The Heart

Miss Kitty - The Madam
The formidable owner of Sydney’s most exclusive brothel.
Intelligent, witty and fiercely protective of those in her care, she has built a world where society’s outsiders can find acceptance, dignity and belonging.
To her clients she is a confidante, to her workers a mentor, and to the wider world an enigma.
Beneath her carefully constructed façade lies a woman carrying decades of secrets, regrets and unfulfilled dreams.

Marcus - The Journalist
Marcus is an ambitious young journalist determined to expose the truth behind Sydney’s most notorious brothel.
Entering Salon Kitty undercover, he believes he is investigating a story about exploitation and corruption.
Instead, he finds himself drawn into a community that challenges everything he thought he knew about morality, family and belonging.

Mabel - The Maid
Beneath her gentle exterior is a woman of remarkable resilience and strength. She has learned to navigate life’s disappointments without losing her capacity for kindness.
As relationships deepen and long-held secrets come to light, Mabel finds the courage to step from the shadows and embrace her own future.
Representing hope, loyalty and quiet determination, Mabel reminds us that true strength is not always found in those who speak the loudest, but in those who continue to care for others when it would be easier to walk away.

Bill - The Rock
Bill is the club’s self-appointed guardian. Larger than life and impossible to ignore, he fills every room with energy, humour and unapologetic confidence. Bill faces the world head-on, refusing to be diminished by society’s expectations or prejudices.
Behind the bravado lies a deeply loyal man who understands what it means to be judged, rejected and underestimated.
His sharp wit and fearless honesty often mask a profound desire for acceptance and belonging. As tensions rise and loyalties are tested, Bill emerges as one of the musical’s strongest voices, challenging hypocrisy wherever he finds it.
The Team

Jim - The Judge
The Judge is one of Salon Kitty’s most respected and enigmatic patrons. A man who has spent his life dispensing justice, he arrives carrying the weight of responsibility, reputation and the expectations of a world that demands certainty. Within the walls of the club, however, he finds something increasingly rare in his public life: honesty, companionship and the freedom to be himself.
The Judge serves as a reminder that status and success do not shield people from loneliness or the need for human connection.
His relationships within the club reveal a deeply compassionate man who sees beyond labels and appearances, often offering wisdom when others are unable to see clearly.

Sally - The Sex Worker
Sally is a bright, ambitious young woman with dreams of becoming a judge. While others may define her by where she is today, Sally refuses to let her circumstances dictate who she can become.
Beneath her confidence lies a deep desire to prove herself and be valued for her intellect rather than her appearance. Sally is constantly balancing her hopes for the future with the realities of the present.
Through Sally, Salon Kitty explores aspiration, self-determination and the pursuit of opportunity.
Her journey is one of resilience and hope, reminding us that our future is not defined by where we start, but by the choices we make and the dreams we refuse to abandon.

Sam - The Sex Worker
Sam is a thoughtful and compassionate young man with a clear goal: to become a doctor. Intelligent, hardworking and driven by a desire to help others, he sees education as both a calling and a means of creating a better life. While those around him often focus on the circumstances of the present, Sam remains firmly focused on the future he is determined to build.
Sam discovers that success is about more than qualifications and career ambitions—it also requires empathy, understanding and the courage to confront his own vulnerabilities.
His journey reflects the belief that people are capable of growth and transformation, and that a commitment to helping others can be one of the strongest forces for change.

Jena - The Sex Worker
Jena is confident, charismatic and entirely comfortable in her own skin. Jena knows exactly who she is and has little interest in changing. She approaches life with honesty, humour and a practical understanding of human nature that often cuts through the pretence surrounding her.
While those around her wrestle with secrets, ambitions and personal transformation, she remains grounded, offering perspective without judgement and support without illusion. Her strength comes not from growth, but from the certainty of her own identity.
Through Jena, Salon Kitty explores the idea that not every character needs to change in order to be meaningful. Sometimes the most important people in our lives are those who remain constant.
The Guests

The Priest
The Priest has dedicated his life to serving God, providing guidance, comfort and moral certainty to those around him. Yet beneath his calm exterior lies a man wrestling with profound questions about faith, duty and what it truly means to care for another human being while sacrificing his own desires and needs.
He believes in the teachings of the Church, but increasingly finds himself confronted by situations where compassion and doctrine do not easily align.
His journey is not about losing faith, but about deepening it as he learns that true compassion often requires embracing complexity without judging it, balancing expectations with his needs. He must ultimately decide what kind of man, and what kind of priest, he wants to be.

The Prime Minister
The Prime Minister is one of the most powerful people in the country, a woman whose life is defined by responsibility, scrutiny and the constant demands of public service. To the outside world she is confident, decisive and in complete control. Every word is analysed, every decision debated and every aspect of her life subject to judgement.
Behind the carefully crafted public image, however, is a woman who rarely has the freedom to be herself. In a world where every interaction is transactional and every relationship carries political consequences, she finds herself increasingly isolated. At Salon Kitty she discovers something she cannot find anywhere else: a place where titles, status and power are left at the door, and where she can simply be human.

The INCEL
The Incel is a young man consumed by loneliness. Deeply wounded, he longs for connection, acceptance and love, yet feels invisible in a world that seems to reward everyone but him. Convinced that he has been rejected and abandoned, he has built a narrative in which society, women and circumstance are responsible for his unhappiness.
Beneath his anger lies profound insecurity and a desperate need to belong. Every interaction becomes a battle between his desire for human connection and the resentment that pushes people away.
He represents the consequences of a world where people can become trapped inside their own pain, unable to see the humanity in others or themselves. He reminds us that connection begins not with blame, but with empathy, vulnerability and the willingness to step beyond fear.

The Two Ladies
The Two Ladies are unapologetic, confident and entirely at ease with themselves. In a world that often seeks to shame, regulate or define female sexuality, they refuse to carry guilt for their desires, choices or experiences. They are witty, outspoken and fiercely independent.
The Two Ladies speak openly about desire, pleasure and personal autonomy. Their presence exposes the double standards that often surround sexuality, particularly for women, and offers a perspective that is both liberating and provocative.
Through the Two Ladies, Salon Kitty celebrates female sexuality as a source of strength rather than shame. They represent a worldview in which desire is neither hidden nor apologised for, but embraced as a natural and joyful part of being human. Their confidence, humour and refusal to seek permission make them some of the musical’s most fearless voices.
